What I learned in [Nissan] school is [a process map]
One business tool which is taught in Six Sigma is the swim lane process map. In this map, there are lanes of responsibilities to mark who does what part of the project. Then, the process is mapped out in detail.
Squares are an action completed, diamonds are a decision point and circles are where the process terminates. These maps can become every complicated, especially when the scope of work being measured is large. Often, an entire wall in a conference room needs to be utilized to fully build out a process map.
